Ubisoft shoots down a fan's impressive remake of GoldenEye 007 inside Far Outcry 5

For the past three eld, Far Cry mapmaker Krollywood has been meticulously remaking N64 standard GoldenEye inside Far Cry 5's Arcade. This week, however, Ubisoft threw those years of work away, removing complete his levels from the game at the supposititious behest of James Bond licence-holder MGM.

Scrolling through Krollywood's YouTube channelize, you'll find footage of near the entirety of the seminal FPS remade inside Far Cry 5—amply player singleplayer missions ranging from the iconic Dam to the giddiness-inducing Cradle. Impressive stuff, enough that it caught the eye of outlets like IGN and Kotaku earliest this month.

Sadly, that attention besides put Krollywood's work in Ubisoft's crosshairs. Yesterday, a GoldenEye YouTuber detected that the maps had vanished from the Far Cry Arcade, later updating with confirmation from the mapper that MGM had asked Ubisoft to remove his work.

"Ubisoft charg me a mail because they got one from MGM," said Krollywood. "Information technology's really sad merely my work isn't deleted because I saved my levels on PS4/5, happening PS+ Sully and USB Stick. I don't roll in the hay if there is a assemblage means to upload them over again, because I'm on their radar now, I think."

In an email statement to Kotaku, he added: "I'm really sad—not because of myself or the put to work I put in the last terzetto long time, but because of the players who wanna flirt IT OR bought Further Cry just to bring up my levels."

While evidently inspired by GoldenEye 007, Krollywood's level didn't habituate any of the game's original complacent—utilizing Far Blazon out's art assets and code—and was never sold-out for money. The mapper arguably wasn't profiting cancelled another's work in the style that would ordinarily propel a DMCA impress. Regardless, Ubisoft told Kotaku that the matter is "currently with the map's creator and the rights holder and we have nothing further to share at this time".

"In pursuit the guidelines inside the 'Terms of Use', there were maps created inside Far Hollo 5 arcade that have been removed due to copyright infringement claims from a right bearer acceptable by Ubisoft and are presently unavailable. We esteem the intellectual property rights of others and expect our users to do the same."
